It’s obvious but at the same time ellusive: when kid does something the first time you have to tell him how. Tonight Arthur combed his hair for the first time (!) and I had to tell him a number of times, “No, try starting in the front, not the back.”

Awesome! I will have to teach Si this. We're tackling kindergarten readiness life skills, and I'd forgotten about this one. So far we've gotten through brushing teeth in the morning (we used to only do it at night out of our own laziness) and wiping his own butt. That one took a lot of really funny instruction.
