Ben and I saw a movie recently that ended with a mother gazing at her son while he ate his dinner.  Sometimes I just like to gaze at one or both of the boys while they are deeply involved in something.  Or not.  Tonight Art, Lewis and I went to Ben’s book signing event at the Pioneer Press building.  We called it Papa’s Party and on the way back I put Art’s car seat in the front (I was driving Bubbe’s old Tracker, made before child-killing passenger side airbags).  While I was driving through the night and streetlights I wanted to gaze at Art just sitting there next to me.  At a stoplight I started the video camera (resting on the parking break, not in my hands!) and now I have that moment captured.

Art makes these long sidewalks or tunnels at school with wooden blocks. Tonight he made one at home. He worked diligently for about a half hour. He explained that the “water comes out” at the beginning and I assume the whole thing is like a long pipeline for the water. Most of his block and lego creations have places where water or smoke come out. See the video for the full tour.

Lewis slept terribly last night. After Jess let me sleep in, I whisked the kids off to one of the best parks in Minneapolis, Brackett Field, so Jess could get a nice loooong nap. Brackett Field has the best playground equipment and it’s in a neighborhood we love and hope to move to someday. Anyway, we spent most of our time in the woods nearby exploring and then giving eachother ‘haircuts’ under a pine tree. There’s a video of it below.
