I’ve failed my family lately on the whole taking-photos-of-them front. So, here’s a some wonderful photo of Arthur from long ago. I threw in Evva just for the HELL OF IT!
Mother Earth visits preschool.
Each year at Lewis’ preschool (formerly Arthur’s preschool and next year Netta and Bailey’s) Mother Earth comes for a visit. The real Mother Earth, no shit! The kids can ask her questions and I think she reads a book or talks about the earth, etc. Here’s a photo Ms. Jen took yesterday.
Lovely to come home to this. A rare cellist sighting!

My new blog.
I recently started a new blog at work called Flash Garvin. It’s a fun new place for me to share stories and my pictures. Here’s the awesome cover artwork drawn by a comic-book-author-friend-of-a-friend Zander Cannon:
A note about this blog.
There’s been a noticeable decline in posting that I’m learning to feel less bad about. I would often stay up too late blogging, get less sleep, be less happy. So I’ve been using that time read and hit the sack when Jessica does, a rarity. And that’s been healthy. So if you see fewer posts lately know that it’s because I’m sleeping better. That said, this blog will continue on FOREVER! Just with less posting frequency for now…

Halloween 2012.
Lewis went trick or treating with his best friend Oscar and Arthur went with his friend Archer. And night of independent trick or treating!
Lewis went to Oscars house after preschool and spent the whole day there. So essentially they played together from 9am-7pm. Crazy. Erin, Oscar’s mom, recorded this hilarious little conversation between the two of them:
Oscar: isn’t it cool that you get to stay for trick or treating
Lewis: yeh
O: we get to spend so much time together
L: yeh
O: what if we got to spend all day and all night together?
L: yeh
O: what if Benji and Anthony and us got to spend all day and all night together?
L: yeh
O: if we were brothers we would spend all day and all night together
L: yeh
O: Lewis, what if that was real? We were real brothers?
| Arthur and Archer, center, and Archer’s little brother Fritz, right, and big brother Otto, left. It was a very productive trick or treating foursome. |
| When I came over to their house to pick up Arthur everyone was busy trading candy. |
Josh is Minnesota Latin Teacher of the Year!
Josh was just awarded Latin Teacher of the Year for Minnesota! It’s amazing, I’m so happy for him and super proud. Just tweeted the news, too. Here’s the award and a little video I took from his class a few years ago (apparently the video was viewed as part of his nomination).
CONGRATULATIONS, JOSH!
