We went to the park with Evva and her brother, Oscar (only a few weeks older than Lew). Interesting, Art and Evva didn’t really play with each other this time. Evva found a little girl to play with and Art played with and near boys. Anyway, Oscar and Lew enjoyed each other’s company, and also made a new friend. Much squirming and chewing went down. Art played with sand and climbed and climbed.

Finally, a swing!

Ever since the moment we bought our house four years ago I was bummed there was no spot to build a swing (I grew up with one and understand their neccesity). I finally came up with an idea to hang a chain between two big (and semi-branchless) trees, than hang a couple ropes down from that. It worked! It actually works real good. And since it’s real high Art can swing out really far. I’m quite proud, and Arthur is quite happy.

Goo Goo Goggles!

Art and his friend, Maura, dance to songs from music class. Probably Don Alfredo Baila, a song they both LOVE.

Here Art is having his hair washed, something that is a traumatic experience in the Garvin household. Lots o’ screaming and crying. My mom said, “Have you tried goggles?” Definitely less screaming and crying with the goggles on, even though they started filling up with water.

a museum outing.

This e-mail just in from Jessica (and Arthur)

————————-

…and we went to the Art institute! He was pretty impressed with the building when he first walked in, he liked the stairs, and we looked for a Hugomungous painting. We found one. He said, “Is that Hugo-mungous?” And we saw many statues and sculptures in the Asian wing. We ate lunch in the Family Room and played with some blocks and a birch-bark canoe.

Before we went in I crouched down to his level and said, “There are a few rules in the museum. You have to use a quiet voice when you talk, you have to walk – no running, and you have to keep your hands to yourself. You can’t touch the art. “

He did a great job. Never ran, even whispered sometimes, and didn’t try to touch anything.

That’s our story. Now i”M just hoping he will take a snooze.

Talk to you sooN!
