Josh, the master ‘ranger.

Art and I stopped by the other day to see my brother Josh make boomerangs. He started doing this a long time ago with his good friend Neil (it’s call J&N Boomerangs), and just restarted the small business in his basement. You can actually go online right now and buy one if you want, well worth the $20! Handmade from 10-ply Finnish birch, could you even imagine a better Christmas present???

Playing in North Carolina.

Arthur with cousins Mira and Zach. We don’t see them but twice or so a year, but when we get together the kids play so hard and well together. It’s fun to watch and be near them.

Arthur jumping off a huge pile of gardening earth.

Zach collecting hay for an ‘angry birds course’ they built on the walkway.

Mira collecting sawdust for the big pile.

They were working so hard on this thing for the longest time. Just a big pile of mixed up stuff. Had to sort of cringe watching them make a mess, but what the hell!

Living in the woods.

My dad and his wife Cynthia live in a beautiful house in the woods in Durham, NC. It’s an inspired house in an inspiring location, and loads of fun to visit. Here we are taking a walk in their backyard.

We trespassed through a few backyards and arrived at this lovely little lake.

More random photos from our trip to North Carolina.

Papa and a naked Bailey.

Mira loved spending time with the babies. One afternoon we ditched Netta and Bailey with Jenny, my step sister and Mira’s mom, and they took the babies in their car to pick up Mira from school. Apparently Mira was super happy seeing a couple babies in her car.

Cynthia, a wonderful story teller and musician (and my father’s wife!) spends time with Bailey and Lewis.

Mira helps a baby to walk. Sujit, her Papa, succeeded in getting Netta to take a step.

Another walk in the woods.

This is a little wood shed with a tiny little heated room. My father, a periodic and talented writer, built it to do just that. He’s always quite busy with projects and work related to his ceramic jewelry business. But! He’s gonna make the time to write, regardless of his massive to do list, starting 3 hours each morning on January 1st. I’m really happy for him that he’s going to make the time to do something he loves so much.

Netta has taken a few steps.

This actually happened about 10 days ago in North Carolina with the determined help of Sujit (my step sister Jenny's husband). I wasn't there but Jessica said he had a way with them, and got her to take a wobbly first step. Since then she's taken three or so but still falls over or dives to the nearest lap. Come Bailey, get with it!
