What are these two laughing about?

[unpublished draft Jessica started a few years ago]

The late, great Adria “Bubbe” Parker ice skating.  Yep.  We were making a pound cake for my mom’s birthday (as per Arthur’s request) and thinking about a goofy mental image we created this winter.  It all started with me mentioning that Bubbe would never have gone ice skating.

Twins, caretakers

Another post I found as an unpublished draft from years ago!

—————–
This photo means to much to me! It was a few weeks ago on Bailey and Netta’s first day at their new preschool (called High Five). They were both excited and ready, but as Jessica and I got ready to leave Netta cried and cried and got scared. Bailey held the photos of Jessica she had, putting them in front of Netta’s face, trying to get her to calm down. A wonderful thing, watching them care so deeply about eachother.

Halloween was terrible then wonderful

Behold (from left!), a fat old man, a wizard, a mushroom and very sad overwhelmed Bailey. The poor child struggled with her costume this year, losing a key feature and being unwilling to switch gears and then dissolving into a puddle of tears and anxiety. It was sad and also super frustrating. I yelled something terrible like, “Just put on any god damn costume!” and caused more tears and fear. A terrible parenting moment that I feel bad about. Jessica, who always rises in crisis, helped Bailey calm down and came up with a truly extraordinary costume. A leaf bag! Complete with real leaves and an accompanying rake. And then the night went off swimmingly. Thank you to Bailey for being flexible and especially to Jessica for saving the Halloween day (night).
